Summary
This study examined developmental trajectories of challenging behaviors reported retrospectively by Japanese parents of adult children with intellectual disabilities. The study focused on how challenging behaviors were reported to change across development, based on parental retrospective accounts.
The study contributes to the Measuring line by organizing caregiver-reported histories of challenging behavior as longitudinally structured information. It also contributes to applied research on intellectual disabilities by describing developmental patterns that may inform assessment and support planning.
