Computer-Based Intervention for Inferring Facial Expressions from the Socio-Emotional Context in Two Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Published in Research in Autism Spectrum Disorders, 2014

Summary

This study examined a computer-based intervention for inferring facial expressions from socio-emotional contexts in two children with autism spectrum disorders. The intervention arranged contextual scenes and facial expression stimuli to support learning of emotion-related relations.

The study contributes to the Training and Autism Support lines by evaluating a structured procedure for expanding emotion comprehension repertoires. It also connects computer-based instruction with behavior-analytic approaches to social communication support.
